  1. Use the Define Detail Layouts dialog box to set custom Layouts for your Detail View. After you create them, Detail Layouts display at the bottom of the Contact menu, allowing you to switch between them quickly.

  4. Layout pop-up menu: View and choose from a list of available Detail Layouts to modify. By default, this menu contains four Layouts: PowerBook View, Standard View, Tiny View, and Classic View. You can modify or delete these.

  6. Show Toolbar checkbox: Check this box to display the Toolbar.
  7.  
  8. Category Header checkbox: Check this box to display the Category header.

  10. Listing Header checkbox and pop-up menus: Check the box to include the Listing Header in the selected Detail Layout. Choose its display font and size from the pop-up menus.

  12. Name/Address checkbox and pop-up menu: Check to include the Name/Address blocks (Name block, Work Address block, and Home Address block) in the Layout. From the pop-up menu, specify how many blocks appear simultaneously by choosing:

  14. •    1 Block: combine all of the information in one block with a dog-ear to page through the three blocks.

  16. •    2 Blocks: place the Name block on top and combine the two address blocks below it with a dog-ear to page through them.

  18. •    3 Blocks: place all three blocks in the Layout, stacked vertically.

  20. Phone/Custom checkbox and pop-up menus: Check to include the Phone/Custom blocks (Phone block, Custom Fields 1-4 block, and Custom Fields 5-8 block) in the Layout. From the first pop-up menu, specify how many blocks appear simultaneously by choosing:

  22. •    1 Block: combine all of the information in one block with a dog-ear to page through the three blocks.

  24. •    2 Blocks: place the Phones block on top and combine the two Custom Field blocks below it with a dog-ear to page through them.

  26. •    3 Blocks: place all three blocks in the Layout, stacked vertically.
  27. From the second pop-up menu, specify the location in the Layout relative to the Name/Address blocks by choosing Right or Bottom.

Notes/Events checkbox and pop-up menu: Check to include the Notes/Events block (displays Notes, attached documents, Calendar Events, and Keywords) in the Layout. From the pop-up menu, specify the location in the Layout relative to the Phone/Custom blocks (or the Name/Address blocks if the Phone/Custom blocks don't display) by choosing Right or Bottom.

  31. Color Settings area:
  32. Field Blocks pop-up menu: Choose a color.

  34. Field Labels pop-up menus: Control the appearance of the field names in the selected Detail Layout. Choose the color from the first pop-up menu. Choose the text style from the second pop-up menu.

  36. Field Text pop-up menus: Control the appearance of the actual Contact information in the selected Detail Layout. Choose the color from the first pop-up menu. Choose the text style form the second pop-up menu.

  38. Grid Lines pop-up menu: For grid lines, select Dotted, Dashed, or None.

Check fields to tab into scrolling list: Set the order for moving through Contact information fields when you press the Tab key. The default order is probably the most useful. This moves you through the fields in the order that they appear in the Detail View. You can also set a different tab order for each Detail Layout.

  42. To set your tab order, move the fields around in the list by dragging until they appear from top to bottom in the order you want. To omit a field from the tab order, click the checkmark next to its name. Include a field by clicking to the left of its name so that a checkmark appears.

  44. Duplicate button: Click to copy the selected Detail Layout. This helps when you want to create a new Layout, but use the current one as a starting point.

  46. Delete button: Click to delete the selected Detail Layout.

  48. New button: Click to create a new Detail Layout, with the default settings.

  50. Rename button: Click to enter a new name for the selected Detail Layout.
